06 Nov Glendalough & Powerscourt -Schneebergers go Ireland

Hi everyone,

I am very excited to tell you a bit about the last weekend and show you all the photos, because my lovely family came to visit me in Ireland for five days. It was so nice having them here, showing them around a bit, introducing them to my little girls and revisiting places I’ve been two years ago. You’ll get to see this special time out of two peoples perspectives again, because as some of you might already know, my dad is a photographer and he kindly gave me some of his pictures to post on here.

On Thursday afternoon I got to see my family again. First thing I noticed when we reuinited was my little brother not being so little anymore. It has only been two months that I didn’t see them, so I never thought one could grow so much in this short period of time, but now my little brother is officially taller than me.

First thing I wanted to show them, was the cliffwalk from Greystones to Bray. They obviously loved it and the awesome view you get. An absolout Must-see when you visit Bray or Greystones.

After that I took them to my favourite restaurant in Greystones for dinner, where we caught up a little about what was going on in each others lives. There wasn’t much we didn’t know from each other, because modern technology makes it so easy to catch up on a very regular basis, but still it was very nice sitting on the same table all together.

On Friday I had a full working day, because my girls had mid-term-break, but we didn’t let that get in the way and I just took the girls with me to meet my family for brunch at the Happy Pear. Eating smoked carrot toast and sharing fancy porridge bowls and pain-au-chocolats broke the ice very quickly for my girls who were a little shy in the beginneng, and it all was not only a very nice way of combining two worlds, but also a lot of fun. Afterwards the girls and I showed them Greystones’ beautiful beach.

Connie and Lottie also totally fell in love with Jakob, because when we returned back home and I showed my parents my new home, he built Lego-houses with them, which he admitted was not only great fun for the girls.

In the evening my dad picked me up with the car, to take me to their little cottage in Roundwood, where I joined them for two nights. I immediately felt at home, when I entered and it smelled like oven-vegetables.

Saturday was a chill day. We had a delicious breakfast in the cottage, got out of the car in the Wicklow mountains while it rained cats and dogs, but the scenery was too beautiful to stay in the car and had a long stroll through Dublin city. But just lean back and take a look at the following photos, because they pretty much sum up everything we did that day.

On Sunday we spent the whole day pretty much outdoors, because the weather was good and Ireland has a lot of beautiful places to offer outside.

First stop was at the water reservoir close to our cottage in Roundwood.

Then we went to Powerscourt gardens, which is one of the Must-sees in the Dublin area. The last time when I was there it was spring and everything started to bloom. Who would have thought that it could be just as beautiful in autumn.

We enjoyed the warm autumn sun and a lovely coffee in the Avoca cafe in Powerscourt, which is the perfect place to round the visit off.

After that we set out for Glendalough, but couldn’t help ourselves but had to get off again on our way through the Wicklow mountains, with the only difference, that the weather was a little kinder to us this time.

Then we finally reached Glendalough, which was obviously very stunning again, even though we’ve all been there before.

It felt like a mini-holiday to me as well and so familiar travelling around with my family and I am so thankful that they came to visit me here.
